Movie Review: The Invention of Lying

24 01 2010

Bravo! This blatant truth-telling society is intoduced to Mark, who invents lying. He invents the afterlife in an obvious satire on Christianity and the Right-Wing.

I give this a 10/10!

Personal Views: Terror and Torture

18 01 2010

The attacks of 9/11 were criminal acts committed by legal immigrants inspired by hatred from radical groups origionating in the middle eastern area.

It was not a declaration of war, and if it was, on whom?

The Military went into the Middle Eastern area with other allies to weed out the group’s foundations as foreign criminals , not as any declaration of war.

Torture is a criminal act. The act of a person holding another captive and torturing them is a crime by most legal standards, and it is the same (or should be) within intelligence agencies or other government and military groups. They are not above the law. The Constitution clearly defines this. Anyone found to act out torture on any human being should be arrested.

. The Bill of Rights also defines torture going against the fifth amendment.

Personal Views: The School to Prison Pipeline

I recently found this nice internet PDF. It presents a good argument for the need of an end to the irrational fear and unfair no tolerance policies of the “School to Prison Pipeline”.

Illegal Immigration: Seriously, Stop the Bigotry.

17 01 2010

Are some so blinded and brainwashed into nationalism that Immigrants are ruining america? That we forget their status as humans and simply cast them out as criminals?

Give them some decency. Offer them citizenship instead of ripping their desperate families up and deporting them.

End Coal.

16 01 2010

Cons
-Removal of forests on mountaintops can flood communities in mountain valeys due to the lack of trees to soak up the rain water.
-Coal Mining leaves behind ponds of toxic Coal Ash and murk, which is often held back by poorly made makeshift earthen dams that leak.
-Coal Mining is distasteful and ruins the beauty of the nature around it; blasting can send rocks and dust into communities nearby.
-Coal Mining disturbs the ecosystem, and destroys habitats. Streams have to be rerouted and forests cut.
-Coal, when mined and burned, contributes greatly to Greenhouse Gas pollution.
-Clean Coal is a myth.
-Mining coal releases acids into creeks, turining them orange and killing all life in them.
-Reclamation can never recnstruct the environment that has been ruined.
-Coal Miners can suffer from inhaling coal dust by developing lung cancer; same can go for residents nearby
-Coal freaking stinks. Lost tourism dollars, maybe?

Pros
-It provides for the economy. (But is a major threat to agriculture, and other economic sources. It also costs alot in environmental fines in place which are bound to come with these cheapo coal companies)

Hmm, so lets see… 10 cons, and even the 1 pro is debunked.

So, Coal is “good” how? The Coal Companies are constantly cheating their way and ruining the lives of many and the ecosystem.

Pat Robertson: “Haiti Cursed by Pact with Devil

16 01 2010

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/pat-robertson-haiti-curse_n_422099.html

Yep, Pat Robertson, who always has some comment to make about Christianity that usually includes crossing the line- oh, and asks for money.

This time, hes attacking Haiti, claiming that they sold their souls to the devil to defeat the French, and that they have been cursed.

Seriously, what a bigoted hypocrite. He attacks a revered Catholic and Christian nation as being “demonic”.

Apparently, the Slaves couldn’t defeat the French to him, so they must have made a pact with the devil to defeat them!

After all, what colony could EVER defeat a large colonizing European empire? Never happened!
