Pat Robertson: “Haiti Cursed by Pact with Devil

Yep, Pat Robertson, who always has some comment to make about Christianity that usually includes crossing the line- oh, and asks for money.

This time, hes attacking Haiti, claiming that they sold their souls to the devil to defeat the French, and that they have been cursed.

Seriously, what a bigoted hypocrite. He attacks a revered Catholic and Christian nation as being “demonic”.

Apparently, the Slaves couldn’t defeat the French to him, so they must have made a pact with the devil to defeat them!

After all, what colony could EVER defeat a large colonizing European empire? Never happened!

True Story? Its quite odd as the majority of Haitians are Catholic.

Voodoo is an African religion and was brought to Haiti with the African slaves, I read the original story from a Haitian news site but has somehow been buried from all the blogs and reports regarding Pat Robertson, sorry I couldn’t find it. Here is some information for you; http://97.74.65.51/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=14079

This is from a Haitian news site; http://www.newshaiti.com/index.php?mode=single&n=239

Voodoo has nothing to do with Satan or the Devil, which are solely in Christianity.

Haitians were forced into baptism and practicing Catholicism, our mainstream Catholicism here is a different animal than the convoluted version there. They are 70% Catholic, 30% Protestant and 100% Voodoo.

It sounds like you are saying the “rumors” are just Christians demonizing the Voodoo religion. They have many dabbling in Black Magic (casting spells and curses); many have grown up fearing evil or demonic spirits. I guess you have to personally know someone that grew up in a predominant Voodoo region to witness the fear in their eyes. I know a guy that ran to school every day to outrun the demons.
